To Blog or not to Blog

Creating this free blog was super easy and accessible to anyone with Internet access, so that's pretty chill. I honestly don't think that anything was difficult about creating the blog, but I imagine that finding other people willing to follow you might be a challenge. I have enough difficultly managing my own life, and I don't quite understand why people would go out of their way to "follow" the lives people they don't know. Why not just make actual friends whom you can share your innermost thoughts with...? To me, "following" people seems like a waste of time. I'm a bit biased on the whole subject,  though.

I definitely see more of a connection between blogging and writing, rather than blogging and facebook, simply because facebook is more of a social network than blogging is (I'm not even sure if blogger was meant to be a social network in the first place). It seems to me that Blogger is a place where you can simply write down whatever is on your mind, not a place to upload pictures and communicate with friends. Also, there is not a huge writing component to facebook, other than "status updates", which no one really does anymore.

One connection that might exist between blogging and facebook is the desire to create something that elicits a "comment" worthy response from your peers and thereby raise your spot on the status quo. Does anybody else feel the competitive nature of facebook to have the best page/most comments/views? I really dislike that competitive environment and I hope that Blogger isn't the same way.

I think that blogging might be cool, but I don't really see why you have to go to this trouble to making a page and such, while you could just be writing these things down in a journal.

So.... these are my first thoughts on blogging.
